Who am I? I am a fun, loving, care free elementary school teacher! I currently teach Physical Education, Technology and run an after school program at Akron First Academy. I am from Akron Ohio and I attended Akron Public Schools through my entire school career. Currently, I am a mild to moderate Intervention Specialist major. I am so excited to go into this field and work with children with mild behavior and learning difficulties!
I am currently sitting on the parent teacher board at the school I work at. I serve as a liaison between the teachers and parents in regards to fundraisers and in school activities. This has prepared me for the behind the scenes work that goes into teaching. I am also a mentor to a student that attends Hyre Middle School. This has also prepared me for working in the field of Intervention Specialist because my men-tee is a very closed off student with behavioral and learning difficulties. Although it has been a challenge I feel as if every single student is worth our time and attention.
After graduating I want to work in the Akron Public Schools district, preferably in a high school. I am currently the travel photographer at East High School for the football team and I hope to be employed at that school one day. I have a great desire to work with students that are in an inner city school because people often hold them at a lower standard. I have always felt that my calling was to work with students in inner city schools because they deserve someone that cares about their education and they often don't have that at home. Growing up I had one teacher that believed in my through my entire high school carrier and she is one of the biggest reasons I am in college now. I hope one day I can be that person for another student!
